Search for fascinating life in a salt marsh, catch blue crabs on baited hand lines and discover natural treasures while beachcombing on Masonboro Island’s remote shores. We travel to Masonboro Island on a 115 passenger vessel that has restrooms, a shaded cabin and an upper observation deck. As we travel through Myrtle Grove Sound, we commonly encounter bottlenose dolphin, osprey and beautiful wading birds.
About Masonboro Island: Masonboro Island is an 8 ½ mile completely undeveloped barrier island that has been set aside for education and research. Masonboro is a component of the North Carolina National Estuarine Research Reserve program. Carolina Ocean Studies has been conducting environmental education excursions to Masonboro Island for almost 30 years.
